Individual training can be a more effective option for some
dogs and people rather than attending a group class.
Group classes are a great way to provide controlled distractions for teams so dogs can learn to focus and more reliable with basic manners in the presence of other dogs and people.
When to consider private training:
- For dogs that are fearful or reactive in new environments or around people and/or dogs
- For behaviors that are specific to a home environment or outdoor activity
- For serious safety behaviors that are not addressed specifically in the group classes
- For handlers who learn best in less distracting environments with one-on-one instruction
- For multi-dog homes that need to address multi-dog training issues
- When scheduling to attend a regular class is a challenge
How does it work?

Schedule
the Private Session - send an email including your general availability and you will
be contacted to schedule the appointment.
- Schedule the initial Behavior Evaluation/Assessment appointment.
This is a 90 minute appointment to review the application, assess the dog, answer questions, and provide a written follow-up Behavior Assessment and training plan. - Follow up with additional training sessions to begin working on the training plan.
What is the cost?
Behavior Evaluation/Assessment (90 minute) $100.00 - includes written follow-up notes & training plan to address training needs.
Follow-up training sessions $60.00/hr - includes written training notes after sessions.
Students
that have attended classes may be able to skip the Assessment session depending on
behavior issues that need to be addressed.
Prepaid package sessions:
4 one hour sessions 10% = $216.00
6 one hour sessions 15% = $306.00
Private Training Options
Service Dog Training
Dogs can be trained to provide their humans with everyday quality of life activities or specialized life saving skills (Diabetic Detection, Gluten Detection, etc.). Due to the long wait lists and cost of dogs trained through large programs many people in need are willing to put in the time and work to train their own service dog.
This training requires a serious commitment from the handler and a dog that is suited for the job. It can take 9-18 months (depending on tasks/skills) to fully train a dog to become a Service Dog.
Public Access Training is equally as important as Task Training for us. If a dog cannot be ‘bomb proof’ in public with the handler it should not be a Service Dog. This can be one of the more challenging steps toward having a self-trained SD.
